PhotoDerm is a new form of treatment that uses high intensity light
therapy to safely eliminate spider veins. The PhotoDerm machine emits
brief flashes of intense pulsed light, similar to a camera flash,
which destroys unsightly small thread veins so that they fade and
slowly disappear. Treatment is applied by placing a hand-held unit
on your skin. The process is relatively painless being described as
a brief stinging sensation.
No anaesthesia or pain medication is required. Short term side effects
include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which disappears
in a few days. Several treatments may be required depending upon the
severity and density of the vessels. You can resume normal activities
immediately following treatment. PhotoDerm is usually highly successful,
particularly satisfactory for facial thread veins, is safer than laser
and does not cause scarring.
The paler the skin the more effective the treatment.
There are very few of these hi-tech PhotoDerm machines in the U.K.
Treatment is only available in our centres located in Belfast, Glasgow,
Nuneaton and London.
