a) Microsclerotherapy - Thread Veins

Microsclerotherapy involves injection with a very fine, almost invisible needle. Through this an injection of fluid is introduced which sticks the walls of the vein together so that blood cannot return.

The vein walls that have been damaged by the injection are slowly removed by the body's natural defense mechanisms over a period of months. Once the vein has been injected it can take between two weeks and three months for it to completely disappear.

The vast majority of small, clearly visible veins can be sucessfully treated. Several sessions may be needed depending on the extent of the thread veins. This safe and effective treatment has been used on hundreds of thousands of patients around the world.

b) Veinwave - Thread Veins

Veinwave is a revolutionary treatment for red (spider) veins on the legs or face. This thermo-coagulation technique is a complete solution being effective, totally safe and relatively painless with only minimal temporary bruising, producing immediate results with no side effects.

A fine needle is introduced over the vein and in most cases it disappears instantaneously without bruising. No bandaging is required.

c) PhotoDerm - Facial Thread Veins

PhotoDerm is a new form of treatment that uses high intensity light therapy to safely eliminate spider veins. The PhotoDerm machine emits brief flashes of intense pulsed light, similar to a camera flash, which destroys unsightly small thread veins so that they fade and slowly disappear. Treatment is applied by placing a hand-held unit on your skin. The process is relatively painless being described as a brief stinging sensation.

No anaesthesia or pain medication is required. Short term side effects include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which disappears in a few days. Several treatments may be required depending upon the severity and density of the vessels. You can resume normal activities immediately following treatment. PhotoDerm is usually highly successful, particularly satisfactory for facial thread veins, is safer than laser and does not cause scarring.

The paler the skin the more effective the treatment.
